Marie Imber - Director-At-Large, Ontario
Marie Imber is an accomplished Human Resources leader with over 12 years of progressive experience in the non-profit and community sector. She started a new role this summer as Senior Manager, People, Engagement, and Learning at MakeWay Foundation, where she partners with managers and staff across Canada to strengthen inclusive workplace practices, equity-centered policies, and compliance in multiple jurisdictions.
Marie’s career has spanned leadership roles at Canadian Women’s Foundation, AIDS Committee of Toronto, and other mission-driven organizations, where she advanced equity hiring initiatives, developed compensation frameworks, and embedded trauma-informed, culturally safe HR practices. She is known for her commitment to fostering organizational effectiveness while centering care, inclusion, and justice.
Marie holds a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation, is a SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), and has advanced training in Human Resources Law, health and safety, and volunteer management. She brings deep expertise in employee relations, workforce planning, and policy development, with an approach guided by equity and a strong belief in the role of Human Resources as a partner in social impact.
