Nine Years of Loss: Still No End in Sight
We Remember. We Educate. We Act.
Nine years ago, British Columbia declared a public health emergency in response to the toxic drug crisis. Today, the crisis continues, taking lives and devastating families.
On April 14, 2025, we come together in remembrance, in grief, and in action. We gather to honour those we've lost, to share stories, to learn from experts, and to demand change.
Join us on the front steps and lawn of the BC Legislature as we stand in solidarity for a future where no more lives are stolen.
Speakers include:
Leslie McBain, Co-founder Moms Stop the Harm
Lisa Lapointe, Former BC Chief Coroner
Adam Olsen, Former MLA for Saanich North and the Islands
Jess Wilder, Doctors for Safer Drug Policy
Shane Baker, A member of Wilps Gwininitxw of the Lax Gibuu or Wolf Clan of the Gitxsan
In addition, The Precarious Players will perform songs from the transformative musical tale about this provincial health emergency.
Thanks to Poppies Florist and EuroSa Farms, 200 roses will be available at the event to pay tribute to those lost. Each rose will serve as a powerful tribute—each one representing a life lost due to BC’s toxic drug policy failure. Families and friends will be able to write messages and leave them by the steps of the Legislature, a stark reminder of the human cost of inaction.
Location: BC Legislature Building, 501 Belleville Street, Victoria, BC
Gathering at 11:30 AM | Speakers begin at 12:15 PM
This is more than an event—it’s a call to action. Together, we fight for change.
