Black Balloon Day 2024

February 16, 2024 by Guest User

Black Balloon Day has become an international event, bringing awareness to deaths from substance user harms and the unregulated toxic drug supply across North America.

As with many things with this crisis, Black Balloon Day began with a family’s loss. Diane and Lauren Hurley began Black Balloon Day in remembrance of Greg Tremblay, a family member who died of an overdose when he was 38 years old on March 6, 2015.

Drug overdose is now the leading cause of accidental death in North America. Black Balloon Day helps create awareness around the important issue of providing support to those struggling with substance use disorder and their loved ones.

It's a silent epidemic that demands our attention and compassion. Let's break the silence and stigma surrounding substance use disorder. Let's provide support, love, and resources to those who are struggling.

Their light may have dimmed, but their impact on our lives remains eternal. They are dearly missed every single day.

We ask that you save one or both of the attached images and share them on social media with the story of your loved one. You can add your loved ones name to one of the images before sharing.

Join us in releasing virtual balloons today, March 6, 2024, to raise awareness. Share your stories, share your love, and let's stand together to end the stigma and prevent further tragedies.

Use the hashtag #blackballoonday2024 and tag @momsstoptheharm, we can share your stories.

Remember, virtual balloons are kinder to our environment. Let's make our impact meaningful in every way possible.
