Southern Alberta MSTH Memorial Photo

Moms Stop The Harm families in southern Alberta, in partnership with the Piikani First Nation, are planning the sixth in a series of iconic memorial photos to remember loved ones lost due to substance use related causes.

Memorial Photo Details

  • Date and Time: Sunday, July 12, 2020 at 3:00PM

  • Location: Piikani First Nation, Brocket AB (on Highway 786, south of Highway 3).

  • Meeting Place: Piikani Secondary School (Hwy 786, 1 km south of Hwy 3).

Note: Due to Covid 19 regulations this event is limited to a maximum of 50 participants. Be sure not to attend if you, a member of your household or someone you had contact with have cold or flu like symptoms, or tested positive for the Corona Virus.

To ensure the safety of all participants and residents of Piikani Nation all participants will have temperature check and health questions, similar to those conducted at airports and some businesses.

Instructions for the photo:

  • Wear black or very dark grey/blue, unless you plan to wear indigenous regalia or clothing

  • Bring face masks (one photo with, one without masks)

  • Bring a photo of your loved one, ideally 5x7 or 8x10

  • Come alone or with a small number of family members

  • 30 white crosses will be available

  • People can bring any other symbol they want to use, traditional, religious or otherwise (e.g. eagle feather, drum, blanket, candle).

A reminder and specific directions will be provided a few days before the photo shoot.
