MSTH Member Troylana Mason has an article on Page 22 of the Summer edition of PostScript Magazine.
“Some disruptions come like the strong blow of a knife that cuts to the center of who we are. Those who are struck by that knife hardly know how to breathe for some time. I first met Troylana Manson at the 2022 BCRTA AGM. A colleague from Kamloops introduced her to me and said I had to hear Troylana’s story. My impression of Troylana was that she had spent a lot of her life smiling, sharing energy. Someone who puts you at ease. There was also a sadness to her, a hesitation. There was lots of noise, people milling about, but as she quietly spoke to me in those few minutes, there was a new and still center to the room, something went deep. What I heard that day was the earliest expression of the article we share here: a story of both loss and affirmation. I told her that her friend was right: she had something important to say. I know, she said. I’m very grateful that, in the fullness of time, she is now sharing her family’s journey through grief. There is change all about us. Some is welcome, much is not. Sometimes the ground shifts under our feet, and it is all we can do to stand. But however change is initiated, from within or without, our response is important. When we summon the courage to move to the edge of our comfort and even beyond, many wonderful things can happen.”
