MSTH Board of Directors is actively RECRUITING

Moms Stop the Harm (MSTH) is an organization dedicated to educating, advocating, and supporting families and individuals who have experienced harm due to the toxicity of the drug supply and punitive governmental policies. MSTH is actively looking to increase diversity on our Board of Directors through the next election process at our 2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM), date to be determined.

We encourage all interested individuals to apply, and have a particular interest in persons with lived/living experience of drug use and /or lived/living experience of supporting a loved one with their drug use.  We are also interested in recruiting individuals with backgrounds in communications, fundraising, law, and research to apply.

We are seeking to recruit individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities, with varied experiences and skill sets, to complement the existing Board of Directors as we work collectively to dismantle harmful drug policies. Experience working within a social justice-based non-profit framework is beneficial, as is a good understanding of Canadian drug policy, harm reduction and anti-oppression movements.

Note - This is a volunteer position. No compensation will be provided. (If participation on the board may cause financial hardship, we have provisions in place to remove barriers.)

At this time, MSTH is a working board, which requires an average minimum time commitment of 15 hours per month, with the expectation that directors attend a monthly board meeting, prepared and ready to discuss agenda items, participate in committee work (Finance, Communications, Education, Advocacy, etc.) and attend secondary meetings as required. A strong connection to substance use health services, related organizations and/or MSTH members in your home region is also a benefit to the board, the membership and the organization.

Each term is a two-year commitment, with the potential of an additional two years if interested in continuing.

  • Board composition allows for up to 12 regional board directors and 4 executive board directors, and we like to have representation in all regions/provinces of the country.

  • Regional directors - We currently have or anticipate openings in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Quebec and the territories of Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon.

  • Nomination can be by referral or by self-nomination.

  • Nominations are open and ongoing.

  • You must be a voting member of MSTH to join the board. Information on becoming a voting member can be found here: https://www.momsstoptheharm.com/join
