Call for the resignation of the Edmonton Chief of Police

December 19, 2023 by Petra Schulz

The Chief of Police in Edmonton has been vocal about his of a tough on crime and involuntary care approach to substance use. Now he is planning to apply this principle to encampments in Edmonton, with a plan to dismantle the only homes over 150 unhoused Edmontonians, the majority Indigenous, have.

Our Edmonton members have lost faith in the Chief’s ability to indeed “serve and protect” everyone, including Edmonton’s most vulnerable citizens. Consequently Moms Stop The Harm Alberta leadership, including current and former directors and the Edmonton based co-founders, call for the resignation of Chief Dale McFee in an Open Letter to the Mayor of Edmonton.

From the letter:

“When there is no room at the inn, it is not the time to kick people out of the stable, especially right before the holidays.”
