We also thank our visionary co-founders, Lorna Thomas, Leslie McBain, and Petra Schulz for serving as our keynote speakers and sharing their recollections of a decade of Moms Stop the Harm. Thank you as well to Rebecca Penn, Katie Upham, Marie Imber, and Tammy Taillieu who are all concluding their term as members of the Board of Directors. Community Action Initiative (CAI) and Moms Stop The Harm (MSTH) warmly invite grandparents and guardians raising children due to impacts of the toxic drug crisis to join us for a small community dialogue in Langley.

This gathering is a chance to connect with others in the Fraser Valley and Metro Vancouver who share similar experiences in a caring and supportive space. We want to hear about your joys and challenges as a caregiver, the supports that have helped (or been missing), and what families wish service providers and partners better understood about families impacted by drug-related harms and deaths.

Your experiences matter and will help inform community supports and services. The afternoon is also about building connection, sharing stories, and reminding one another that you are not alone.

Who can attend: This event is specifically for grandparents and guardians who have lived experience as caregivers raising children due to impacts of the toxic drug crisis

Date: Wednesday, June 24, 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: Timms Community Centre, Langley, BC

Lunch will be provided, along with supports for attendees such as childcare stipends.

The Healing Hearts program is a cornerstone of Moms Stop the Harm's peer support services, providing connection, understanding, and community for individuals affected by substance-use-related harms.

As the Healing Hearts Coordinator, you'll play a key role in supporting facilitators across Canada, helping expand access to support groups, and ensuring the program continues to grow and thrive. This is a highly collaborative position that offers meaningful work, flexibility, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact in communities nationwide.

Healing Hearts is a free bereavement support group specific to those grieving the loss of a loved one due to overdose or substance-use related harms.

Holding Hope Groups are peer-led support groups, offered at no cost, for Canadian families and individuals whose loved ones use or have used substances.
