Dear Members, Allies and Friends of Moms Stop The Harm,

As we welcome a new year, we reflect on the resilience, strength, and compassion that define our community. Together, we have navigated immense challenges, standing united in our commitment to advocate for better drug policies, honour those we have lost, and support families affected by the unpredictability of the illegal, unregulated drug supply fueling the toxic drug poisoning crisis.

2024 reminded us of the power of collective action. Through your stories, advocacy, and unyielding love, you have helped shift the conversation around substance use toward one of compassion, understanding, and change. Each voice in our network is a beacon of hope, pushing against stigma and demanding a more just and humane approach to drug policy.

As we step into 2025, we acknowledge that the road ahead will not be easy. Political challenges will test our resolve as decisions at all levels of government impact the lives of those we care about and advocate for. There will be times when it feels like progress is too slow, but together, we will face these obstacles with the determination that defines MSTH.

To help bolster our efforts and provide a positive forward direction, we are thrilled with the addition of J. Stewart as our new Executive Director to our team. J. brings decades of experience in communications, advocacy, and leadership, as well as a deep understanding of the systemic issues we are working to address. With J.’s guidance and vision, we are confident that MSTH will continue to grow in our impact and amplify the voices of those affected by this crisis.

Let us remain steadfast in our mission, amplifying the voices of families and individuals directly affected by this crisis. Let us continue to demand evidence-based solutions, harm reduction, and compassionate care. And let us remind those in power that every delay costs lives and every action toward meaningful change is a step toward saving them.

Thank you for your courage, determination, and unwavering belief that love is stronger than hate. We are honoured to walk this journey alongside you.

As a group that relies heavily on social media to share news about our work and the efforts of our allies, Moms Stop The Harm (MSTH) has begun compiling news articles featuring MSTH and our allies on our website. We’ve been busy, and we’re excited to keep you updated.

Holding Hope Groups are peer-led support groups, offered at no cost, for Canadian families and individuals whose loved ones use or have used substances or are in any stage of recovery or who may be using again.

Healing Hearts are peer-led bereavement support groups, offered at no cost, for Canadian families and individuals who have are grieving the death of a loved one due to drug poisoning, overdose or substance-use related harms.
