My boyfriend, Dustin Martindale, died from a Fentanyl overdose November 20, 2016. He was 38 years old. Dustin the most loving, sensitive and caring person I have ever met. He loved sports, shoes and animals. Dustin had struggled with addiction for many years, but you would have never known it by looking at him. He was good looking, outgoing and gainfully employed. He was a health nut and worked out and did yoga all the time. He unfortunately had a pattern of relapsing during hard times. He would go months without a drink or drug, but when he felt especially stressed or upset he was really hard on himself and would drink and use for a few days to escape his pain. Unfortunately this pattern took his life in November, likely due to an increase in fentanyl and carfentanyl in illicit substances in Kelowna. I think about him all the time, every day. I share the deepest sympathies with everyone who has lost a loved to this substance.
