Bio – Dr. Dorothy J. BaKker MD MA CCFP FCFP, Regional Director Ontario

Dorothy Bakker completed her medical training at McMaster’s School of Medicine and Family Medicine Residency program.  She has practiced in a variety of settings including rural family practice, immigration and university student health. She is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at McMaster University and has received numerous community, clinical, mentorship and teaching awards. Dorothy has served on non-profit boards including that of the Ontario College of Family Physicians and the Guelph Community Health Centre. The death of her son Stephen in 2017 from fentanyl poisoning has strengthened her advocacy for those who use substances.
