Deborah Watson, Red Deer, Alberta
My 34 year old son, who has been dependant on substances for 14 years, is currently in a federal prison, due to his addiction and subsequent criminal activity. I am a member of MOMS Ottawa and TODD Support and Advocacy (Edmonton) and have met with Howard Sapers, former Correctional Investigator of Canada, to address health and addiction concerns in Canada's Federal Prisons. I have worked in addictions, and completed my Community Support Worker Certificate, as well as recently completing a Diploma in Business Administration. I have volunteer experience with Turning points (Central Alberta Aids Network Society) and am a passionate harm reduction advocate.
